This study examined the effect of middle managers¡¯ transactional leadership perceived by care workers on organizational commitment of care workers, and examined whether each sub-factor of followership controls it. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on care workers working in Gyeonggi-do, and the influence and moderating effects were analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, the level of organizational commitment of care workers was 3.01 points (out of 5), and the transactional leadership of middle managers increased care workers¡¯ organizational commitment. In addition, perceived goal alignment and active engagement among sub-factors of followership, such as perception of goal alignment, critical thinking, active participation, and team mindedness, showed moderating effects. Based on these results, practical measures to increase organizational commitment of care workers, which are key personnel to provide direct services in long-term care facilities for the elderly, were discussed.
